GRANDAGE LEGACY proves that there are still uncharted territories in light game rods . BLANK TORAYCA A new generation blank has been created, using third-generation "M40X" and "T1100G" as the main materials. It achieves outstanding performance, particularly in sensitivity, casting distance, and operability, which anyone can feel. SHIELD TECH LUGHT To protect the lightweight and delicate blank, a lightweight version of the special scratch-preventing tape "Shield Tech" used in GRANDAGE ATLAS, "Shield Tech Light," is employed. Furthermore, the unsanded finish achieves both a strong exterior and extreme sensitivity. *Only the S86MHT is equipped with "Shield Tech". NANO JOINT A new joint system developed by Apia, employing NANOALLOY Technology, eliminates the stiffness at the joint, a weakness of 2-piece rods. Utilizing this technology, all GRANDAGE LEGACY models adopt the Put-in method. In addition to "strength," "lightweight," and "high balance," it achieves performance that surpasses spigot joints, even down to the "bending curve." Furthermore, to prevent the joint from loosening during fishing, it is finished with ultra-high precision polishing of 2 to 5 millimeters. *Since NANO JOINT is polished with ultra-high precision, do not use ferrule wax. Apia's history in light game fishing is surprisingly long, starting with the "Fujin Tama," the original float rig, and the accompanying rockfish rod "Fujin Maru," released in 2005—that was 19 years ago. After that, they developed the series under the name "Legacy," and in 2018, it became "GRANDAGE LITE." And now, the "GRANDAGE LEGACY" series, the culmination of Apia's light game fishing, has been born. Apia introduced TORAYCA third-generation carbon with the release of Foojin'Z in 2021, and as of 2024, all of their current rods are equipped with this material. The significant evolution of carbon material has brought about revolutionary changes in the characteristics of the rods. In addition to being lighter and stronger, lure casting distance has increased, the rate of fish getting off the hook has drastically decreased, and fight time has also been shortened. This change is not just reflected in the numerical values of each item on the radar chart, but is a significant change that every angler can feel. Naturally, this technology was also applied to light game rods, but with a weight of around 50g, there wasn't much of a visual change. However, when actually used in a real fishing situation, the impression changed 180 degrees. I often used the HYPER STINGER S56L-HS, but first of all, the sensitivity is incomparable. It picks up every vibration as the horse mackerel playfully nibbles on the rig, so at first I didn't know where to set the hook. The casting weight range has also widened, and although the blank is delicate, its strength has increased considerably. Every model of the GRANDAGE LEGACY gave the testers a feeling that was far beyond their expectations, something they had never experienced before, so everyone seemed confused at first, but once they got used to it there was no going back. This time, new technology has also been incorporated into the solid tip. The material is TORAYCA 30t, and the solid core is made of this original design "Precision Solid" which has been polished to ultra-high precision. In addition, the blank's outer tape "SHIELD TECH," which was used in the ATLAS series, has also been designed specifically for the LEGACY. The "NANO JOINT" is also machined with a 2-5/1000 mm taper, so it should hardly ever loosen during fishing. The GRANDAGE LEGACY packs a variety of cutting-edge technologies into a slender blank, like a consortium. I personally had a great time testing it with experts in ajing (horse mackerel fishing). In addition to setting it up, some of the technologies incorporated came from conversations about what would be nice to have. The GRANDAGE LEGACY is the culmination of all of my plans and ideas, without holding anything back, and is truly the pinnacle of Apia's light game rods.
