Week 4 - Akubra
Akubra is more than a hat, it’s a legacy of Australian resilience, craftsmanship, and style. Founded in Tasmania by English hatter Benjamin Dunkerley, the company revolutionized fur-felt hatmaking with patented innovations and earned national recognition during World War I by supplying slouch hats to the Australian Army, a tradition that continues today.
In 1912, the brand name Akubra was officially registered, believed to stem from an Aboriginal word for head covering. After decades of growth, operations moved to Kempsey, NSW in 1974, where every hat is still proudly Australian-made.
For over a century, Akubra was steered by the Keir family, shaping its enduring legacy. In 2023, ownership transitioned to Tattarang, ensuring the brand remains locally owned and committed to domestic manufacturing.
From the outback to the red carpet, Akubra hats, including icons like the Cattleman, Stylemaster, and Banjo Paterson, have crowned adventurers, stockmen, Olympians, and style leaders alike. Each handcrafted piece tells a story of grit, individuality, and pride.

Week 4 - Halco Tackle
Halco Tackle is an Australian owned and operated business based in Fremantle, Western Australia, in a purpose-built facility located on the edge of the Indian ocean where all the designing, prototyping and initial testing stages take place. Halco Tackle manufactures all lures in their own state of the art facility in Batam, Indonesia.
The beginning of the Halco Tackle story takes us back to 1950, when Hal Cooper, an engineer by profession, started building metal lures and assorted fishing rigs in his back shed in Mosman Park, Western Australia.
Hal scaled up the business to a successful fishing tackle manufacturing company, until Neil Patrick purchased Halco Tackle in 1980, and began a program of aggressive innovation and expansion. Halco Tackle continued with the original product lines, but the expansion took Halco Tackle into the manufacture of a vast range of plastic and wooden lures as well.
In late 2001, Neil’s son Ben purchased Halco Tackle and has continued down the same path of extensive lure innovation and expansion.

The promotion commences on Monday 22 September 2025 and runs up until Sunday 14 December 2025.
Simply make a purchase of $100 or more in one transaction either in-store at Getaway Outdoors Balcatta or our online store www.getawayoutdoorsbalcatta.com.au between Monday 22 September 2025 and Sunday 14 December 2025 to receive one (x1) entry into the major draw and be eligible for each of the weekly draws from the date of purchase.
When purchasing a product from at least one (x1) of the Feature Brand(s) of the week during the week of their promotion, you will receive four (x4) extra entries into the major draw and all five (x5) entries will be eligible for each of the weekly draws from the date of purchase as well as all of the major prize draws. Each ticket can win more than once if drawn out. A maximum of 5 entries are eligible per transaction of $100 or more.
Absolutely! Winners of each of the weekly prize draws will go back into the draw for each week and the major prize from the time they make a purchase. The earlier you make your purchase during the campaign the more chances you have of winning.
Weekly featured brand prizes will be drawn at approximately 10am WST, the Monday immediately following each week of the featured brands promotion.
