BASIC TAILOR PATERNOSTER RIG WITH BAIT RELEASE CLIPS AND GRAPNEL SINKER!
With Tim Farnell from Assassin Tackle.
Tim from Assassin Tackle is going to show us how he sets up a basic tailor rig using bait release clips and a grapnel sinker.
Here is Tim's run down. Check out the YouTube video below:
We are fishing for tailor off the beach today with a basic paternoster rig. Start with a 360 swivel at the top of your rig. I am running 60lb mono leader to the gang hook and pilchard bait as well as 60ld leader down to the 4oz grapnel sinker. You can see I am running a bait release clip to assist with casting further.
By attaching the bait release clip to the sinker, you can hook up the bottom of your gang hook to combine your sinker and bait together. Traditionally when you cast a paternoster rig you have a sinker and a hook that move around in different directions once they are cast out reducing your casting distance, but by hooking your bait and sinker together you now have a combined unit, and you will cast out a lot further. When the sinker hits the water, the bait breaks away and you fish like you normally would.
Tim is using an Assassin Bluefish Special 13ft Surf Rod, Daiwa BG MQ 8000 Reel, 40lb Grinder Braid, 60lb Black Magic Leader, 4/0 Mustad Tarpons, Vexed Medium Pilly Bait Thread, Harbor Bait Release Clips and 4oz Grapnel Sinker.
