HOBIE MIRAGE PASSPORT KAYAK!
Roy from Getaway Outdoors Balcatta is going to show us the Hobie Mirage Passport Kayak and take you through the basics of this entry level kayak which is perfect for those new to the sport.

The Hobie Mirage Passport Kayak comes in 2 sizes. The 10.5ft Mirage Passport is available in Slate Grey and Seagrass and the 12ft Mirage Passport comes in Slate Grey, Seagrass and Bay Sand which is recommended as a fishing kayak because it is longer, more stable and is 'Lowrance Ready' for attaching a fish finder.
The Mirage Passport Kayak comes with a paddle, Mirage Drive and a seat. This kayak is a nice entry level kayak for one person with a max capacity of 125kg. The kayak once fully rigged up is approximately 36kg and once the drive and seat are removed the kayak itself weighs approximately 29-30kg making it manageable for one person to carry.
The standard aluminium paddle is interchangeable to be either a straight or an offset paddle by the simple click of a button in the center of the paddle. The standard seat is also aluminium so is light weight and easy to adjust with the straps at the sides. The seat can easily be removed with a simple latch at the rear of the seat to unlock or lock it back into place. The portal hole is excellent for storing belongings however be mindful that this area while it is closed from the elements may still get water inside so it is recommended to store electronic devices in a dry bag.
The main part of the kayak is the Mirage Drive System. This kayak comes with a standard drive called the Arc System which you can see has slightly arced pedals. The standard kick-Up Fins are great for when you hit shallow water and while paddling along of you hit something the fins bend back out of the way rather than snapping off when significant contact is made. The fins will return back to their position once you start paddling again and there is no interference. The Mirage Drive is easy to install. Simply line up the pins and click it into place. The pedals are adjustable to suit each individual comfort requirements.
